At The Samaritan Centre, our mission is simple yet profound: to extend a helping hand to those who need it most – the homeless, the impoverished, and those facing life's greatest challenges. We are dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of our fellow community members by providing essential services and support.
Through collaborative efforts with organizations like Elgin St. Mission and The Blue Door Soup Kitchen, we offer spaces for them to provide critical services, including feeding programs, laundry, and shower facilities, as well as mental health and addiction programs. We believe that a safe and welcoming environment is essential for fostering positive change.
Outreach Program: Our outreach program is at the heart of our mission. We tirelessly work to meet the basic needs of the homeless population, ensuring they have access to food, clothing, and hygiene essentials. We believe that we can create a foundation for change by addressing these fundamental requirements.
Drop-In Center: In partnership with our dedicated team, we maintain a welcoming drop-in center equipped with telephone and internet services. This space serves as a bridge to reconnect individuals with their families and access other vital services, enabling them to rebuild their lives.
Hairdresser and Foot Care: We understand the importance of self-esteem and well-being. Our facilities include a dedicated area for hairdressing and foot care, providing not just physical relief but also a boost in self-confidence.
Emergency Warming Centre: In the harshest of weather conditions, we open our doors as an Emergency Warming Centre, offering a safe refuge where individuals can escape the elements and find warmth, comfort, and shelter.

COMMUNICATION AND CONNECTIVITY
Our center facilitates access to telephone and internet services. We understand that connections are lifelines to essential resources.
DROP-IN CENTER
Our Drop-In Center provides a safe and welcoming haven for vulnerable individuals, offering refuge from extreme weather conditions, be it the frigid cold of winter or the scorching heat of summer. Our Drop-In Centre is open Monday to Friday from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm offering computer, phone and printing services. On Fridays, we host a movie day, allowing clients to choose their preferred films while providing popcorn, treats, and opportunities for arts and crafts participation.
ADDICTION AND MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT
We offer counselling services through one of our partners Teen Challenge Canada to those seeking help in mental health and addiction support. We collaborate with detox and rehabilitation centers throughout Ontario to ensure each client is guided toward the most suitable outcome.
FEEDING
Through collaborative efforts with organizations like Elgin St. Mission and The Blue Door Soup Kitchen, we offer spaces for feeding programs.
ADDITIONAL SERVICE
- Hairdressing/barber services are available each Monday from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm with a licensed hairdresser.
- We frequently host various agencies, such as Reseau, for Hepatitis C testing, nurse practitioners from the Corner Clinic, employment presentations through Sparks, and intakes from the homelessness network.
